Kick Ass Column #7
My 5 Favorite KOG Matches
By: David Tees
In nearly two years of reviewing matches for both Knockout Girlz and Kick Ass Girlz, I have easily done over a hundred reviews of the content on both sites. For Knockout Girlz in particular, there has been forty two videos in which I have reviewed and there has been many great competitors, title changes and highlights throughout the videos. In this edition of the Kick Ass Column, I will give you readers my personal top five matches in Knockout Girlz.
#5: Red Demon vs. Nicole Oring
This match featured a rare occasion in my time reviewing KOG videos, the occasion was that this battle showed me how great a character Red Demon is. Red Demon proved how crazy her personality was when she knocked out Nicole Oring with a pile driver and proceeds to play with the unconscious hand of her foe before pinning her with her arms extended out, in that Red Demon could “crucify” Nicole Oring. Red Demon, to this day, is still my favorite personality in KOG and it should only be a matter of time before she gets the title around her waist.
#4: Onyx vs. Shelly Martinez
This match featured two pivotal moments in KOG lure, as it was the KOG debut of Onyx and the final KOG appearance of Shelly Martinez. This match had a hysterical moment, in which Onyx would pin Shelly Martinez after hitting her with a rock bottom, Shelly Martinez would then yell “did I just get hit with a rock bottom” while Onyx celebrated the win. This match was also one of the first two out of three falls matches in KOG history and it went all the way to the third fall.
#3: Shelly Martinez vs. Laura
This match was the first of two encounters between Shelly Martinez and Laura, who also collided in a KOG Competitive Match, which Laura won. This match was also a two out of three falls match, and again it went to a third and final fall, which Laura won (notice a pattern here). Shelly Martinez would go back to her WWE roots (where she performed as Ariel) and defeated Laura in the second fall with her patented STO. Laura would win the third fall and the entire match after finishing Shelly Martinez off with an incredible tornado DDT.
#2: Christie Ricci vs. Amber O’Neal
This match is easily one of the most significant matches in KOG history as Christie Ricci and Amber O’Neal battled to crown the first ever KOG Champion. Oddly enough, Amber O’Neal would not return to KOG after this match, following her title match defeat to Christie Ricci. This match, in my opinion, was also the best KOG match that featured two professional wrestlers squaring off. Christie Ricci would go onto having a great run as KOG Champion before giving up the title due to personal issues.
#1: Valentina vs. Nicole Oring (No DQ Match)
This match was not only my favorite match in KOG history, but I also believe it was the perfect ending to the greatest feud in KOG history. These two women not only fought each other inside the wrestling ring, but outside the ring and on the backyard lawn as well. As far as I know, this match was also the first and thus far, only two out of three falls no DQ match in KOG history. Valentina would go onto attain victory after forcing Nicole Oring to tap out to a very violent submission hold.
